The Market Garden

Shelburne Farms operates a 7-acre mixed vegetable market garden that provides food and education for the farm and beyond. Our gardener works closely with our chef to grow a wide array of organic vegetables that are highlighted at our restaurant at The Inn at Shelburne Farms.

The Market Garden has supplied flowers and vegetables to the farm for more than a century. Its original greenhouses (no longer standing) grew grapes, roses, palms and other exotic flowers and plants to decorate Shelburne House.

Under our organic growing philosophy, we sustain healthy agricultural practices that maintain fertile soil into the future. The garden also is a classroom for summer campers to participate in farm based projects and learning.
