Vermont Maple Open House Weekend

All weekend long, 10:00AM–2:00PM, explore our sugarbush to see the sugarhouse in action!

Enjoy a taste of maple syrup as you learn about the journey of sap to syrup. Explore a sugarmaker’s tools, tap a sugar maple, add sap from our collection buckets to our bulk tank, go on a scavenger hunt throughout the sugarbush, and—of course—no maple celebration is complete without sugar-on-snow!

Please remember, maple sugaring season is determined by the weather. Due to this year's warm winter, it's possible that we will be done tapping trees for the season. Either way, there will be plenty of maple activities to enjoy all weekend.

  • Whoooo’s in the Sugarbush with Outreach for Earth Stewardship
    11:00AM–1:00PM, Saturday and Sunday free
    Visit Outreach for Earth Stewardship in the sugarbush to learn about wildlife that loves to live in the woods. Enjoy ongoing live bird-on-hand presentations and hear helpful hints about what other birds you may find in your area this time of year.
     
  • Abenaki Sugaring Traditions & Storytelling 
    10:00AM–2:00PM, Saturday and Sunday free
    Ever wonder where maple syrup came from? Gather around the fire circle to learn how the Abenaki made and used maple syrup throughout history. Learn how this wonderful gift from nature was given to the first people of Vermont.
