The Welcome Center was originally the North Gatehouse for the agricultural estate of W. Seward and Lila Webb. From 1985 to 1986, the nonprofit Shelburne Farms rehabilitated it as a Welcome Center and Farm Store, to increase public access to the property. A new room was added for viewing an interpretive video of the property.

Today, the Welcome Center and Farm Store is open year-round, offering our award-winning farmhouse cheddar, many Vermont crafts and products, and children and adult books on natural history, agricultural and environmental topics.

A visit to Shelburne Farms begins here:

  • Seasonal ticket sales (general admission, guided tours)
  • An 18-minute video on the evolution of the property
  • Sampling and sale of our farmhouse cheddar cheese and other Vermont products.
