A
unique collaboration between public land management agencies and
nonprofit educational organizations to develop a place-based
education model that teachers can use to integrate local
forestlands and civic projects into their curriculum in
meaningful and relevant ways. The partners have recently
completed the first year of this three-year pilot project.
The
goal of the project is to foster students’ understanding of
place and to develop their citizenship skills in order to
inspire and enable their long-term stewardship of forests within
their communities.
