Dear Friend of Shelburne Farms,
As individuals and organizations we continually ask ourselves how we can make a positive difference in the world. Shelburne Farms’ answer to that question is reflected in our work, specifically in our commitment to education for sustainability both here and beyond the Farm.
Next year is our 40th anniversary as a nonprofit organization. We certainly have a lot to appreciate and celebrate as we recommit to our work, our mission, and our vision for a sustainable future. As we wrap up a challenging and productive year, we are grateful for your support and encouragement and send you warm holiday wishes.

President

Our Impact on Education for Sustainability
Anne Tewksbury-Frye, sustainability coach at the Sustainability Academy at Lawrence Barnes in Burlington, Vermont, recently shared her thoughts on education for sustainability in an "I Believe" essay in the Burlington Free Press. We're proud to be partners with the Academy through Shelburne Farms' Sustainable Schools Project, and we're proud of her words in this excerpt:
"A school such as ours doesn't happen overnight. We have had years of support and professional development from Shelburne Farms, our community partner. Their expertise in education for sustainability has helped us forge our own vision about best practices here and abroad in this field. Shelburne Farms and its staff have helped us define ourselves and make rich our practices."
— Anne Tewksbury-Frye
Sharing Education for Sustainability
Our Director of the Shelburne Farms' Sustainable Schools Project Jen Cirillo, discussed education for sustainability on VPR's Vermont Edition on December 1. She shared the microphone with Anne Tewskbury-Frye and with Tom Sabo of Montpelier High School. You can read or listen to the broadcast here.
