Shipping Schedule
We ship as close as possible to the ship date you request. Delays may occur due to item availability or high shipping volume (primarily during the December holiday season). If you have any questions about shipping, please call us at (802) 985-0333 or email us at cheese@shelburnefarms.org.
Non-Perishable Items
If your order contains non-perishable items only, you may choose either UPS Ground or UPS 2nd Day Air service at checkout. See the Shipping Methods & Costs section, below, for further details.
Perishable Items
Most orders include at least one perishable item, such as cheese, ham, bacon, or bread. Our packing materials are designed to keep these items in satisfactory condition during shipping. However, to ensure quality, perishable items should arrive at their destination no later than 2 days after leaving Shelburne Farms.
Because standard UPS delivery is unavailable on Saturdays or Sundays, we may delay your requested ship date to avoid weekend days in transit. Except for orders shipping to parts of New England, most orders received after noon on Wednesday will not be shipped until the following Monday.
If your order contains any perishable items, you may be required to ship via UPS 2nd Day Air, depending on:
1. Destination Region: The distance your package will be traveling.
2. Season: In the summer months perishable products can spoil faster, especially when stored in the hot compartment of a delivery truck. We divide the year into two shipping seasons: the Warm Season (May 15 through October 14) and the Cool Season (October 15 through May 14).
Region 1 - Perishable Items
From Vermont, these states can be reached within 1 to 2 days using UPS Ground. Orders shipping to Region 1 via UPS Ground are packed to ensure delivery of perishable products in satisfactory condition.
Region 2 - Perishable Items
Warm Season (May 15 thru Oct 14): Orders containing perishable items with a Region 2 destination must be shipped via UPS 2nd Day Air when sending to Region 2 during the Warm Season to ensure delivery in satisfactory condition.
Cool Season (Oct 15 thru May 14): At checkout, you can choose to ship either UPS Ground or UPS 2nd Day Air when sending a perishable item to Region 2 during the Cool Season.
Region 3 - Perishable Items
From Vermont, these states cannot be reached via UPS Ground Shipping within 3 days. To ensure satisfactory delivery of perishable items shipping to these states must be sent via UPS 2nd Day Air, regardless of the season. At checkout, UPS 2nd Day Air will be automatically selected for you.
Alaska & Hawaii - Perishable Items
Orders to Alaska and Hawaii must ship via UPS 2nd Day Air Service to ensure delivery of perishable products in satisfactory condition. Please note that orders shipping to Alaska and Hawaii via UPS 2nd Day Air Service are in transit 3 days.
Packing Materials
We pack your order with great care to ensure that it will arrive at its destination in excellent condition. Our packing materials include recycled cardboard boxes, insulated cardboard boxes, reusable ice packs, Sylva-Curl wood shavings, and crinkled brown paper.
Shipping Methods & Costs
We use UPS Ground and UPS 2nd Day Air to ship within the Continental United States. Your shipping cost will depend on your merchandise total and the shipping method. Your credit card will be billed when your order is shipped. If your order contains packages to be shipped on different dates you will be billed separately on each date, but the SHIPPING CHARGES for your entire order will be billed on the first shipment date.
International Shipping
If you would like to place an order to be shipped outside of the Continental United States, please call us at (802) 985-0333 so that we can give you pricing information and ensure that your order is fulfilled with special care. Please be aware that heightened food and border security has limited or eliminated shipping options, particularly for perishable items, to many international destinations.
